I cannot stress this enough how big and how important your circle of influence is. Whoever you let into your life and surround yourself with is, in my opinion and many millionaires opinions, is the number one priority in their life and their journey to achieving more. It’s been said many times over again that whom you hang around is who you become.
There was a time when I was completely lost in life and didn’t know anything except for trouble. I was hanging out with the gangs and doing absolutely nothing to secure a bright future for myself. I didn’t even think about the future or even have an idea of what the future was. When I finally moved away from the violence, I was able to truly focus on growth. I went to the military and received the structure and discipline that I needed to bring out the leader in me. The people I forced myself to be around me turned me into a better man than I was at 19 years old. Eventually, I got out and wanted more growth. That’s when I decided to separate from the military and look for a new circle of influence again. I give 100% credit to my success and my future success to shifting my circle of influence.
Shift your circle of influence NOW. Make a decision to surround yourself with positive people who are also goal driven, logical thinkers, and top-notch performers in their industry. Write a list of all of your main friends that you are around the most and determine whether they are growth friends or are they maintenance friends? Growth friends are going to have higher standards for you than you set for yourself. They are going to be there to push you to succeed daily. Growth friends are the one who have figured out keys to success and they are sharing that value with you. Find friends who are already at a level of success you wish to achieve. You don’t know how to make 6 figures? Well they do and they should know how to help you get to 7 figures too. These friends will ultimately cut your learning curve in half.
Maintenance friends do the exact opposite. They don’t hold you accountable; they don’t share a vision with you. They’re not thinking about the future in a lot of cases. It is completely your decision. You don’t have to get rid of your maintenance friends, but make a decision for yourself, your future, and your legacy, to do something now to create the world-class lifestyle you were meant to have. For me this was a little difficult, so I had to put myself out there for different meet-ups just to get my feet wet and get comfortable with networking, talking business, talking about money and learning how to be present in the moment and truly be engaged when talking to someone. But for you to truly cut your learning curve in half, the best thing to do is search for growth friends in mastermind groups and a mentor who has proven results and they are where you want to be in life. Find someone whose values and lifestyle is congruent to yours. There are thousands of successful people you can meet and follow, but if they’re stuck to a 9 to 5 and working 40 hours a week, but you want time freedom, then that is not be your best mentor. There’s definitely a science to networking strategically, which I can share with you on a Skype call or meeting.
So guys, Whatever decisions you may choose, there will always be a result. Even doing nothing, there is still a result. It’s up to you to choose which results you are willing to live with.
