Do you want to become more SUCCESSFUL in your life?
Do you have GOALS you want to ACHIEVE?
And if you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then I recommend you to read on and take notes. Look, I’m going to go ahead and be upfront with you about this- changing your circle of influence is very important but if you do not follow these five key points which I am about to tell you, your circle of influence can only do so much for you. After reading both personal growth and entrepreneurial books, joining mastermind groups, attending multiple seminars, finding highly successful mentors and starting my own ventures in business, I was able to formulate the five necessities to becoming more successful: Mindset, Humility, Action, Failure, and Will. And there is a reason why each component is in this particular order which I will be explaining more in depth later but as of now, our focus is going to be mindset. To kick off, Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd president said:
“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with wrong mental attitude.”
If you want to be more successful and accomplish your goals, it is vital that you change your mindset and attitude to the right setting. Especially when you feel like shit and nothing is going accordingly to your plan because that is when you seriously need to motivate yourself the most. Besides, having the right mindset can’t hurt you but if you are constantly being negative and putting yourself down, I guarantee that it will hurt you and start affecting your business and the people around you. With that being said, how would you like to think from now on?
There are two different types of mindsets to choose from, the rich mind and the poor mind. Each one conducts different thoughts that will lead you to two different outcomes in life so you have to choose wisely. Let say that there were two men walking down the street, one man carried the rich mindset and the other man had a poor mindset. Both were hungry and had the same amount of money in their pocket. They decided to walk to the only food joint nearby for lunch, a hot dog stand. They both got the same hot dog and when it was time for them to pay the hot dog lady, they realized that they didn’t have enough money to pay. One man repeatedly told the lady “I can’t afford this” and the lady told him that unfortunately she couldn’t give to him so he starved the whole day. On the other hand, the other man thought to himself, “HOW can I afford this?” With that mentality, he saw that the lady had a notebook by her but without a pen so he decided to give the lady a proposition. The man told the hot dog lady that he does not have enough money but he is willing to give all of his money and a nice pen from his pocket to her because he noticed that she didn’t have one. The lady was amazed and didn’t had an offer like that before, so she agreed. Which man from this story had a rich mindset set and which one had a poor mindset? Yes, the man who was observant and decided to change the words from “I can’t” to “HOW can I?” The message is not about buying a hot dog from the hot dog lady with a pen but being creative to how to get the lady to make a bargain with you.
Now let us reflect on Warren Buffett, a highly respected billionaire who stand as the third wealthiest man in the world. Do you think he got to the top by having a poor mindset? Do you think he told himself that he wasn’t good enough or that he will not be wealthy? The answer is no. He did not only have a rich mindset but also a rich attitude towards his life. Warren Buffet quoted:
“I always knew I was going to be rich. I don’t think I ever doubted it for a minute.”
According to the National Science Foundation, humans can average about 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. If I take the least amount of thoughts per day (12,000) and multiply that by 365 (days in 1 year), I will have accumulated almost 4.4 million thoughts. From those, only 20% are positive while 80% are negative. Crazy, right? But, even though these are the statistics, YOU still have ALL the POWER, CONTROL, and ABILITY to rearrange these thoughts. People don’t realize this but even the most influential people like Tony Robbins, has his off days too where he thinks negatively. What makes him different though is that he CONSISTENTLY trains himself to KNOCK DOWN all of his worries, fears, anger or frustration every time it appears. It will take some trial and error but remember folks, “Tony Robbins was not built in a day.”
The bottom line is that I am not telling you to be a hippie or to be unrealistic yourself- I know that there will be plenty of times where you will have negative thoughts and doubts but how you react to them will reveal your true character and how your current or future business would be. And If you don’t like what you see, then change the way you think. It will take baby steps before you take giant leaps.
Tony Robbins preaches:
“No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you’re still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.”
I am going to go ahead and be brutally honest with you and I can’t stress this enough, you have to really ingrain in your mind and understand that why you are still not making bank and hitting your goals is because of your fucking mindset. No one can change your life except for yourself. The poor mind is always thinking I can’t afford this and the rich mind is asking HOW can I afford this. You want to stay poor and broke, well keep believing that the money you are receiving right now is all that you are ever going to get. You want to be wealthy and successful, keep pushing the thoughts that will help you achieve your goals and you will get to the place where you want to be, no doubt. There is a saying that “one thought can change the world” and my question to you: ARE YOU READY TO CHANGE YOUR WORLD?
If you are ready to have the RICH mindset and RICH attitude, I challenge you to an exercise. For seven whole days, every time you say things like I can’t do this or I can’t do that, ask yourself HOW you can. From there, notice the subtle difference in you and in your life. If you want to tell me about your experience and learn more about how to turn your mindset to the right settings, schedule a Skype call or do a one-on-one meeting if you are local.
I will continue the next key two points in the upcoming post. Stay tuned for “Humility and Action.”
Remember, life is way too fucking short to feel like crap so make it a great one.
