Do you feel lost figuring out your PURPOSE?
Do have a hard time finding your WHY?
Do want to make a big impact but don’t know HOW?
You are not the only one. Many entrepreneurs from different ages had all came to a point in their lives where they are trying to figure out what is their PUROPSE in life and WHY should they do the things that they set out to do. I can guarantee you that any big name entrepreneur and influencer out there will tell you that knowing your WHY is essential to succeeding your life and business goals. One of Tony Robbins famous quotes:
“People are not lazy. They simply have impotent goals – that is, goal that do not inspire them.”
If I told you that you could go anywhere you want in the world, where would you go? Let’s say you like Japan and always dreamed of going there- you told yourself that by the end of this year, you will go there because you have never been to Japan but when it came to the end of the year, guess what happened? You didn’t end up going. You see, the reason WHY you didn’t go to Japan was not because of this or that- the fact of the matter is that you didn’t have an important reason to really pursue your trip- all you did was just tell yourself that you wanted to go there because you haven’t been there before. I’m going to go ahead and be upfront with you, you didn’t get to go to your dream place because your WHY was selfish- in the sense that it was only about you so if you didn’t go to the trip or not, you won’t have a liability. If your WHY was bigger than yourself, your drive to fulfill your goal will be much stronger and powerful. For example, in this case scenario, you could have said this instead: I absolutely need to take a trip to Japan by the end of this year with my wonderful wife because we haven’t taken a vacation in a long time due to the fact that I have been hustling and grinding to get my business in motion and the reason WHY I even wanted to start my own business in the first place was to create a passive income and spend more time with my family. The point of the example is not to about going on a vacation but really going into detail with your reason and your WHY. If you are an entrepreneur and your WHY is focused on getting rich, driving fancy cars, or buying a mansion, then you are not a true entrepreneur. True entrepreneurs look around their surroundings and see what are the problems that need to be solved. Gary Vaynerchuk, New York Times best selling author and social media expert preached:
“People are chasing cash, not happiness. When you chase money, you’re going to lose. You’re just going to. Even if you get the money, you’re not going to be happy.”
And the reason WHY people confuse money and happiness is that they think by buying a Maserati or Rolls-Royce it will make them happy and satisfy their life but I say that is bullshit. Once you do get your dream car, you will always look for the next new thing so in reality, you will never be satisfied with your life and what you have. You will always be searching and you will waste your time doing so and not actually doing something that you were meant to be doing. Do you really think that Warren Buffett, the richest person in entire world became rich because he wanted to live in a luxury house? The answer is no- in fact, he lives in the same house that he purchased in 1958. Do the math and he has been at the same place for 59 years. Obviously there were some maintenance that needed to be updated but from this, you know that his purpose and WHY was not to become rich and live like a celebrity. Warren Buffet quoted:
“Making money isn’t the backbone of our guiding purpose; it is the by-product of our guiding purpose.”
I’m not saying that money is bad, it is not- money is a tool. Your purpose and your WHY has to be something that inspires and motivates you to jump out of bed- it has to be something so big and so powerful that on your worse and shitty days, it is the thing that slaps you back into reality and knocks down any doubts or lame excuses you use then pushes you even harder to move forward this time around. If you do want to live a rich life and be financially free, there is a deeper meaning to just wanting these things. Take some time off to be by yourself and really think about your WHY in life. If you can’t even do this, then there are other bigger things we need to discuss. Your car is your life and the gas is your WHY. In order to keep your car running, you need gas, so it is critical to know your WHY. If you don’t know how or where to begin, ask yourself, if you died right now, how would you want people to remember you? Do you want to be the guy that only cared about money and made no impact on anyone or anybody? Or would you want to be remembered like Dale Carnegie? Even though Carnegie died 62 years ago, he is still changing the world today. His famous book “How to Win Friends and Influence People” which is on my highly recommended books to read and you can view the book on my home page. His purpose in life was to help people create positive relationships at their workplace or business through speech and action. Richard Branson, CEO of Virgin Enterprise, quoted:
“Helping people to reach their highest potential and purpose, naturally has a positive impact on the bottom line of business.”
If you want your business to flourish and bring prosperity, connect it to your WHY. If you don’t own a business yet, having a clear and detailed vision of your WHY will help you start a business and create a more purposeful life. Someone who is walking towards a destination (goal) but does not know WHY they are going there, along the road, they will get distracted easily and perhaps, not even make it to their destination. In order for you to create a powerful WHY, ask yourself these three questions: what kind of an impact do I want to make before and after I die, who am I doing this for, and in the darkest hours, will this WHY keep me going? Ladies and gentlemen, if you want some more tips, schedule a skype call or one-one-one meeting if you are local. Stay tuned for next week’s article on the hustle.
Remember, if you are not clear on your purpose or WHY, you will waste time and do things that are not necessary so cut the bullshit and get to it.
