In the previous article, I shared how Tony Robbins, author of “Unshakeable” and #1 New York Times bestseller, set his morning ritual. I also introduced Gary Vaynerchuk’s morning routine as well as my own that I’ve created for entrepreneurs after doing intensive research and learning through my own experiences. If you have not read my previous article, Tony Robbins’s Morning Ritual, I suggest you read that first before starting this one but if you’ve already kept up, let us get started. In this article, I will talk about Grant Cardone’s night ritual and what does Warren Buffett do after hours while sharing how other successful entrepreneurs prepare for bed.
Warren Buffett, currently the second richest man in the world pulling a total net worth of 75.6 billion dollars. Before Buffett goes to bed, there are four things that Buffett likes to do. The first thing on the list is to exercise, even if it’s just for a little bit. Warren Buffett is infamous for his eating habits. The multi-billionaire loves to eat hamburgers and drink Coca-Cola. With no intentions of stopping this “diet,” he was brought to a pinnacle point in his life where he had to make a decision of either eating better and healthier or work out. And of course, he chose to work out. As of today, he is 86 years old and still energetic in the financial world. Following up with the second activity, he designates a time to enjoy a few of his hobbies with no particular objective except to just have fun. Not a lot of people know this but Warren Buffett likes to play the ukulele and he is actually pretty good- matter of fact, he also writes songs and has performed with Jon Bon Jovi. The third activity is to play games that stimulates the mind and requires patience. One of his favorite games is called Bridge which is a card game that requires using a standard deck of 52 cards. Warren also enjoys financial games where he is able to learn more about investing while enabling him to sharpen his skillset. Lastly, he reads 500 pages a day, at the very least. Buffett is widely known as a book fanatic and for his incredible reading ability. He is consistently always trying to read whenever possible and learning as much as possible.
Warren Buffett strongly preached over and over:
“Read 500 pages like this every day. That’s how knowledge builds up, like compound interest.”
One of the night rituals that I discovered which is highly effective for successful entrepreneurs consists of five steps:
1) Reflect about your day: What could you improve on and what did you do good?
– Write down what you could improve first and then finish with something positive so that you are left feeling good about yourself
2) Prioritize your tasks for the next day.
– List the important activities first
– Make a specific time frame for each task
3) Room for pleasure.
– Eat dinner with your family or friends
– Spend quality time with your significant other
– Do an activity that you enjoy, for ex: playing basketball
4) Personal Growth.
– Use this time to read a book, listen to an audible, or watch a video to help enhance your skillset and/or business
5) Prep + Winding Down
– Prepare your clothes for the next following day
– Set an exact time when you want to go to bed and stick to it
In comparison to Grant Cardone’s night routine, he focuses on mindset and cuts out the bullshit; this means not watching any negativity on television or doing unnecessary activities that will not help you grow as person or bring prosperity to your business. The following agenda is from Cardone’s actual agenda which starts from evening to nighttime:
5 – 8 P.M.
– Handle appointments and walk in traffic
– Write up every opportunity
– Turn every customer to a manager
8 – 10 P.M.
– Create tomorrow’s battle plan
– Go home – be with loved ones and family
– AVOID NEGATIVE T.V.
– Write your goals down again
To go more in depth on what he means by writing down your goals again, he preaches that you need to write down your life goals when you wake up and go to bed. He even encourages you to write your goals as many times as needed and put it somewhere visible to you so that you are constantly being reminded of it every minute. Grant Cardone said that this is one of the biggest reasons why he is so successful today in his personal life and business. If you want to take another step further, he talks about writing down another list which would answer the following questions:
a. Who could I contact that will change my life?
b. What are my goals?
c. What are my targets? Who has my money?
d. What are my lifetime objectives?
A quote from Grant Cardone that will help you be motivated:
“Build the habits of writing your goals down and daily training and motivation. Just do that for 2 weeks and get that dialed in. Build habits and lifestyles. Don’t try stuff. Do it!”
Similar to what I mentioned about morning routines in the previous article, night rituals are the same- in the essence that each person has a different night ritual that works specifically for them. You can either choose to do all of the rituals mentioned above or pick out the things that you like; as long as you CONSISTENTLY do it every night. Morning or night rituals don’t mean anything if you don’t implement them. Treat these rituals as if someone is going to pay you a million bucks if you do your morning and night rountine every single day, without “taking a break” for one full week. If you are serious about the hustle and becoming more successful in your life, then really act as if you were going to get paid a million dollars by the end of the week. A major reason why all of these big name entrpeneurs make it in this world is due to PERSISTENCE and the WILL to keep doing what needs to be done, no matter what. Having a morning and night routine is vital to becoming successful. If you are focus and on track with your daily rituals, I guarantee that your business and life will be the same as well. No one can hold your hand and make you do this, it is really entirely up to you. Do you want to live a fucking different life? Do you fucking hate slaving away at your 9 to 5 job? Well stop doing what everyone else is doing. They don’t have a daily game plan which is why they don’t have a life plan.
Remember, you will get the same result if you keep doing the same old thing.
